IIBA Denmark Chapter Holds Its First-Ever Event
The enthusiasm in the room was contagious, setting the perfect tone for the many future gatherings this brand-new chapter is sure to have. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to the thought-provoking discussions, which ranged from AI (of course) to sustainability to cybersecurity.
Curious about what IIBA’s newest chapter got up to on their maiden voyage? Let’s dive in!
A Vibrant Exchange of Ideas
For an inaugural event, this session definitely packed a punch. Led by Gülin Boz and Heidi Klejs Jensen, it explored the most influential topics shaping the future of business analysis. Gülin and Heidi wasted no time guiding attendees through conversations about emerging challenges and opportunities within the field.
The agenda covered it all—from generative AI and Agile to data strategy—topics that every business analysis professional should be intimately familiar with. But it wasn’t all theory, either. The sessions shared real-world insights to help practitioners handle the challenges they face in their day-to-day work. In other words, knowledge you can actually use.
Key Themes Shaping Business Analysis
Here’s a closer look at what attendees discussed:
1. AI is here to stay
Artificial intelligence is fast becoming a must-have tool for business analysis. From automating repetitive tasks to enhancing decision-making through predictive modelling, AI really is living up to all that hype (and then some). Business analysis professionals are now expected to grasp AI fundamentals, use automation tools, and uphold transparency through explainable AI practices.
That’s a lot to chew on, which is exactly why events like these are so valuable. The new AI-based demands on the profession got attendees thinking: How can we use generative AI to make project scoping easier, sharpen up reporting, and collaborate more smoothly across teams? Consider that box checked.
2. It’s all about the customer
Business analysis professionals are a key part of shaping great customer experiences—turning feedback into action and helping teams focus on what really matters to users. Skills like journey mapping and user-centred design are front and centre now, making sure solutions actually fit what stakeholders need.
The conversation highlighted ways to build better, data-informed experiences that boost loyalty and satisfaction. Attendees swapped stories about how a customer-first mindset led to smoother services and stronger business outcomes. Because, let’s face it, happy customers mean a happy business.
3. Data strategy is your fancy new hat
With data growing faster than ever, business analysis professionals are stepping into more strategic roles—helping shape how data is used across the organization. From keeping data clean and meaningful to connecting insights to business goals, they're taking the lead.
Participants emphasized how important data literacy has become. Being comfortable with analytics is now a must for staying ahead of the curve. This shift puts business analysis right at the heart of turning data into real value.
4. Sustainability, privacy, and ethics matter more than ever
There's a heightened expectation for business analysis professionals to champion sustainability and ethical practices within their organizations. So one of the main talking points was integrating sustainability targets directly into business processes, along with navigating complex global privacy regulations like the GDPR.
Business analysis professionals are also playing a key role in making sure AI is developed and used responsibly, with strong ethics guiding how data and technology are handled. It’s a shift that puts them in the driver's seat when it comes to thoughtful, forward-looking change.
5. Agile never sleeps
Remember when Agile was just about flexibility? Well, it’s so much more now, and business analysis professionals are right in the thick of its latest iteration. Whether it’s prioritizing backlogs, fostering understanding among stakeholders, or modelling value, participants agreed that Agile roles are expanding—and so are the frameworks.
To match them, business analysis professionals are stepping up from facilitators to leaders who drive continuous improvement and maximize team impact within Agile frameworks.
6. Make yourself indispensable
Gone are the days when you could coast on a single skill set for your entire career. And that’s not a bad thing. Business analysis professionals are now branching out into exciting fields like product leadership and cybersecurity, blurring more traditional job descriptions.
The consensus among the group was clear: staying curious and continually learning sets you up to handle bigger challenges and take on leadership roles. That makes it a no-brainer. Why stay put when you can make yourself indispensable?
7. Cybersecurity is non-negotiable
With digital threats lurking in every corner, cybersecurity has moved up the priority list—and rightfully so. Business analysis professionals are dialing into risk assessments and security frameworks, collaborating with IT to plug vulnerabilities before they become headlines.
Taking a proactive stance on cybersecurity helps organizations stay resilient. Good thing they have business analysis professionals on their side.
